Week of September 25th

This week in Literacy

This week we used Handwriting Without Tears lines and curves to spell out names. Everyone was really creative when creating their names.

The Letter of the Week was Ss. Students brainstormed words that start with Ss, practiced printed uppercase and lowercase and learned the Jolly Phonics song.

Sorting uppercase and lowercase letter rocks.
Journal writing.
Practicing letters and classmate names.

This week in Math

Students worked hard to co-create our classroom number line. Students represented numbers using pictures, numbers, words, ten frames and their fingers. We have completed numbers 1 to 10 so far, and will continue to create more.

Community Walk

We went for a walk around the school block collecting sticks and natural items. We will be creating a classroom Family Tree in the Book Nook in the upcoming weeks. Please encourage your children to find sticks and bring them to school.

Terry Fox Run

On Friday morning all 3 Kindergarten classes came together on the field to participate in the Terry Fox Run. A member of the Athletics Council lead everyone in some stretches and then we ran around the field for about 15 minutes. It was great to see so much enthusiasm from all the kids! Thank you everyone who sent in donations :)
